In-Person & Virtual
Having a comfortable and private space to have your therapy sessions is important.
I think you will find the office setting here calm and inviting. It’s not stuffy.
While in most situations I prefer to meet in person, meeting virtually is always an option. Plus, the convenience of video sessions has dramatically increased access to psychotherapy for people who would not normally seek it out.
I use a private, secure, and HIPAA compliant video software to conduct video therapy sessions. This can be accessed through a browser or an app on your computer, tablet, or mobile device. Sessions can also be conducted by phone. It is important to find a private spot where you can speak freely and undisturbed. Interestingly, for some people the most private spot for video sessions is on their phone in their car (while not driving, of course)!
I have been conducting video therapy sessions before the COVID-19 pandemic and, to date, there have been no problems billing the insurances I work with (Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna) for video sessions. Though the sessions are coded differently, they have consistently been covered at the same level and rate as in-person sessions.
I am currently fully licensed to provide telehealth services as long as you are physically located in Michigan or Florida. Each state has its own, and evolving, rules about providing telehealth psychotherapy services across state lines. If you are currently out of state feel free to contact me to explore your options.
